I’m David and welcome to my corner of the web. I live with my wonderful wife in the interesting state of Texas. Both of us are working on graduate degrees, albeit at different institutions. In order to supplement my education I decided during the first year of my graduate studies to become a more avid and intentional reader. This change came about because I realized that the more education I receive the more focused my knowledge becomes, which in turn means the less I know about other topics. So in order to further my liberal arts education efforts I started this blog with a few goals:
1 – This blog will provide a space for me to engage in the public discussion of primarily book related topics, whether through book reviews or through essays;
2 – this blog forces me to critically examine the media I consume, since I’ll always need some blog topic, therefore making me more intentional in my own reading habits;
3 – and finally this blog provides a space for me to look at the place the printed word has within our society.
Hopefully there’ll be a few people to add discussions and opinions, but more importantly to cause me to critically examine my views. I apologize in advance for the litany of grammatical mistakes that will slip through my editing process (which is nonexistent), I didn’t try that hard in my English Grammar class in college.
Please note reader that I will not always be reading strictly fiction or non-fiction. Also note that religion and philosophy are crucial to our human existence therefor no real topic is off limits from my readings and therefore critiques.
I wish you happy reading,
